happy nyepi day 1928
the day of silence, which this year falls on thursday, march 30, 2006, marks the spring equinox and the balinese solar new year. in this very day, the island wakes up to a day of perfect stillness.
no fires are to be lit, no food cooked, no activity carried out and nobody is allowed to be seen on the streets during this day of prayer and meditation.
if you have not had the chance to experience the quietest new year celebration in the world, try next year. will surely leave you with a fascinating hard to forget memory. see you next year?

ps. as for me, i will miss this year's nyepi day as i will be in my alma mater to be a guest lecturer and hopefully will also manage to have some fun with friends in couple cities in java! see you soon my dear readers!
