my friend and i were entering batu malai sri subramaniar temple when an indian priest approached us. he murmured something about someone's getting married to which my friend, who speaks very little english, replied yes i married, three children.
the priest quickly approached me and said, "no, i mean you. you are going to marry." he kept his sharp eyes on me and added, "soon."
i bet i looked in disbelief because he then emphasized the word, "soon."
after that he chanted something, i believe is in indian language, and put a mark on my forehead with some kind of ash, something that you will see in indian people's forehead after they prayed in the temple and tied a red cotton cord around my right wrist like a bracelet.
i wonder how one is supposed to response to such remark from a priest.
