the question i'm most often asked ...
are you phillipines?
.. and phillipines is substituted easily with with japanese, thai, malay, you name it. strangely enough, those people never ask if i am indonesian.
having had a stint in pursuing my career in singapore and now in cambodia as well as some travelling to different parts of asian countries have exposed me to such question. along with people talking to me in japanese, tagalog, viatnamese, thai and khmer, to which i will just smile and reply according to my current mood and the way people shoot the question.
really, a guy literally asked me in a very impolite way (you know the kind of way rude men want to pick up girls from the street!) if i am from one of the countries i have mentioned. hello?!
anywho, that's not the question i'm most asked when i was still in my own country. the question then was when i would send them my red card (referring to wedding invitation!), to which i always replied never, mine would be pink or green!
