tuk-tuk

when you walk on the streets of siem reap, cambodia and someone offers you taxi, do not expect a fancy car that can take you places. expect the unexpected and it is guaranteed that you will have a broad smile in your face upon laying your eyes on the so called taxi!
it's tuk-tuk! a popular transportation mode in the city i currently live.
tuk-tuk is simply a motorcycle with a cabin attached to it at its rear that can accommodate around 4 adults (i see one loaded with more than 4 adults though in many occasions!)
with tuk-tuk you can practically go places, including on your tour around the grande angkor wat temple. pretty convenient really cause the driver can wait up for you if you wish him to. most of the tuk-tuk drivers will even give you their phone number, so if you are satisfied with their service you can call them up again the next time you want to roam the city.
however always make sure that you have agreed upon the fare before hopping on one. better still, seek help from your hotel concierge when flagging one.
one way ride downtown should not cost you more than two dollar. at least that's how much i pay to go to the lively pub street with its array of good food and drinks! err .. that's when i dont feel like walking (which is very rare!)
