capote. a superb piece. go and watch it! capote is a chilling piece. no, not because of the murder. you will find how this movie is not too busy discussing the whys behind the killing, even the very murder scene itself is softly and minimally portrayed. a brilliant approach i guess, considering the very core problem is not the murder but rather the inner conflicts faced by the main role, capote. truman capote.
on his quest to write about the humanity aspects of the two felons convicted of first degree murder, capote was facing his own setback.. living a lie for his own sake.
capote, beautifully played by oscar best actor winner, philip seymour hoffman, had to choose to keep living the lie in order to successfully write a story which he believed would be changing the face of writing styles. should he hired best of the best lawyers for the felons, as he had promised to, they might end up winning their plea and he would not be able to finish his writing.
pay extra attention to the scene in which capote was being questioned by perry about his writing. a superb scene! how capote answered perry’s questions in a very calm, friendly, reassuring yet cruel and unnerving tone. once again, s u p e r b!
capote is a movie rich with humanity aspect indeed. the very aspect that he wanted to touch base in his writing, later on turns to be his greatest piece, in cold blood. from the felon, with troubled background, who killed for his victim sort of expected him to kill, to a very popular buoyant writer who rebuffed the promise that he once made, all for his own success. human?
