the day swings!

i am kidding no one. though i regard myself as a music aficionado, i am no music buff. no no. when it comes to describing music, i can only come up with the music that i enjoy and the music that i do not enjoy. all those music genres, this group and that group, guitar techniques, snare drum, double bass, accordion bla bla bla, they are just too much for me.

in my upbringing, i listened to great deal of music mostly all those ever green songs, jazz, blues, reggae, rock and gospel. and been enjoying all of them eversince. but i know that i always love to add to the list of music that i enjoy.

so yesterday i went to this concert in my neighborhood featuring incognito. while incognito is not a new item for me, the name harry stojka is meaningless for me. until last night. oh man this harry stojka, a 4 piece jazz band, played gooooooodd music!

though i still cannot describe what guitar techniques the guitarists exercised nor what double bass techniques the bassist sported, i know that i fall in love with harry stojka, which plays one of the jazz genres, new to me, gypsy swing.

with their great performance harry stojka almost stole the night mesmerizing the great bali jazz crowd, but incognito is the one that all waited for last night. oooh yeah, they gave us great jazz gig!

and the message that jean-paul maunick said last night is encouraging : this is my fifth visit to this beautiful island and always want to perform here. i know that bali has been under various adversities lately but it has been holding strong. tonight is for togetherness. peace!

too bad the sound system let us down. and has made harry stojka stopped playing until all was fixed. all for good music! yay! don't you love it when the performers think high of your satisfaction as the audience?

the sound system problem also occured when incognito played. but of course incognito does not become a great jazz band for nothing! they acted cool while the problem being fixed and kept entertaining the crowd. and... last night was a great gig! a fine final touch to my remarkable day!

yesterday was a helluva great day for me and i know i will anticipate more great days in the years to come, thank to all of you my cherished friends. let me borrow the wording from the birthday card carefully selected to mirror what he thinks of me, sent by my darling friend ifan to thank you all you're very special, specially sweet to my soul. i love you people!

and hugs for ifan, thanks for the doll, ya ya ya i know you picked that one cause the cheeks resemble mine huh! also for mimi who has picked up my clue about books make great birthday gifts :D, thanks for the books *hug mimi*! anymore gifts i sud anticipate? hahaha nah! i am kidding! i'll go with that old saying the thoughts that count :D

cheers everyone!
